Christine Broghammer Is September DAISY Award Winner
Christine Broghammer, RN, in Labor & Delivery at Methodist Women's Hospital, was honored at a recognition ceremony on Thursday, September 26, as the September DAISY award winner.
Christine was nominated for the honor by a new father who praised "the extraordinary patient-centered, safe and quality care that my wife, new child, and I received while patients at Methodist Women's Hospital."
As a recent nursing graduate and new nurse to Methodist Women's Hospital, Christine was paired with the charge nurse that day, and the new father wrote that the two women made "an amazing team who did everything they could to make my wife as comfortable as possible."
Throughout the long labor of his wife's scheduled induction, the new father appreciated how Christine was a strong advocate for his wife's pain management. He emphasized that Christine "took the time to really educate us on everything that was occurring, including the process of verifying that the right medication was being given, the purpose and potential side effects of each medication and offering us the opportunity to ask any questions."
Describing Christine's skills in communication, listening and compassion as "amazing," he said what impressed him most was "her humbleness and focus on quality, safety and learning."
In closing, the father wrote, "Christine is a special person who embodies the Methodist Health System mission and core values and truly knows 'the Meaning of Care.'"
