Birth Services Visitation Policy
Because the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus (swine flu) is now widespread in the Omaha community, Methodist Hospital Birth Services has revised our visitation policy.

The following visitation regulations will be enforced on our Birth Services unit to protect you, your baby and our other patients from the flu:

  • Visitors (including siblings) with respiratory or influenza-related symptoms, including the following, cannot visit Birth Services until the symptoms subside.

    • Fever
    • Cough
    • Sore throat
    • Other associated symptoms:  runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills, fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting
  • Visitors to mothers in isolation for 2009 H1N1 influenza virus will be limited to persons who are necessary for the patient’s emotional well-being and care.
  • Visits by children under the age of 14 years old will be limited to the newborn’s siblings only. Siblings’ visits will be restricted to patients’ rooms only.
