What are the advantages of the Methodist Travel Clinic?

  • Our travel clinic is physician-administered, not just supervised. Our physicians attend to your health directly, ensuring you that your entire health history is considered and treated.
  • We provide a health advisory specific to you and your trip. You will receive a custom-generated package of information from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), the U.S. Department of State and a wide variety of other resources. This special report will help you before and during your trip, with information on safe and healthy travel at each destination.
  • We offer post-travel follow-up with a physician specializing in travel medicine. After you return, our physicians can attend to your health and identify any conditions suspected by your itinerary.

What can I expect during my visit to the Methodist Travel Clinic?

During your visit, a physician will meet with you to discuss the details of your trip, your medical history and your current health status. With the use of the most current CDC and WHO information, the physician will advise you of the required and/or recommended immunizations. Some immunizations require multiple visits, so we recommend planning your visit four weeks in advance of your trip, if possible.

You may be provided prescriptions for travel-related medicines. Examples are malaria prophylaxis or prescriptions for traveler's diarrhea.

In addition to providing expert medical care, we will inform you of general-travel health guidelines such as food, water and insect precautions. You will also be advised of particular health risks and disease outbreaks for the region in which you are traveling. At the end of your consultation, you will receive a packet of information prepared for you and your itinerary specifically.

Do you provide yellow fever immunization services?

Yes, Methodist Travel Clinic is a designated yellow fever vaccination center. Some countries in Africa and South America require proof of yellow fever immunization before travelers are permitted to enter. We are authorized to administer the yellow fever immunization as well as provide you with a World Health Organization (WHO) Immunization Certificate.
All vaccines recommended by the CDC are available on-site at our clinic.

The Methodist Travel Clinic offers complete travel care, ranging from country and destination-specific consultations, immunizations, prescriptions and preventive medicine to post-travel care in the event of an illness.
