Methodist Jennie Edmundson Advanced Wound Center located in Council Bluffs, Iowa,  is the only full-time Wound Center in Southwest Iowa that offers a 100% physician driven facility and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Our Mission

The Advanced Wound Center’s Mission is to improve the quality of life for all our patients. We aggressively manage wounds to ensure they heal quickly and completely.

We use personalized, evidenced-based processes, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy to treat many types of wounds including:

• Chronic wounds
• Pressure ulcers
• Diabetic ulcers
• Post-surgical wounds
• Wounds from traumatic injury
• Wounds from vascular disorders
• Venous arterial insufficiency
• Burns

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Advanced Wounds

Methodist Jennie Edmundson Advanced Wound Center utilizes Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for some of the most advanced wounds.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) involves breathing 100% oxygen while in a pressurized chamber. Due to the increased pressure, the oxygen is dissolved into the blood and body tissues, which promotes faster wound healing.

The most common conditions that benefit from HBOT include:

• Slow healing diabetic wounds
• Tissue that has been damaged due to radiation therapy
• Certain infections of the skin or bone
• Problem skin grafts
• Crash injuries and/or slow healing post surgical wounds
