Methodist Hospital's certified lactation consultants are a source of information and encouragement. They provide specialized one-on-one care and instruction to help new mothers breastfeed successfully.


Lactation consultants can assist in many ways, including:

• Knowing if your baby is getting enough milk.
• Teaching how to nurse multiples or babies with special needs.
• Training to pump and store milk safely.
• Evaluating breast pain or infections.

During your hospital stay, our lactation consultants are available from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help with breastfeeding questions or challenges that require skilled lactation support. 

After discharge, expect a phone call from our lactation consultants one or two days after you return home. Their office is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily for your phone calls, and, if needed, for one-on-one appointments.
