Methodist Women's Hospital
Lactation Services
We are here to help you make feeding your baby a fulfilling and positive experience.
Rest assured that a mother's milk has all the nutrition needed to keep a baby healthy, and only very rarely is there a medical or physical reason that a woman cannot breastfeed her baby.
You and your baby can enjoy the many benefits of breastfeeding, including a very close and special mother-baby relationship.
Methodist Women's Hospital Is Breastfeeding-Friendly
Methodist Women's Hospital promotes the benefits of breastfeeding for both mother and baby within an environment totally supportive of a woman’s desire to breastfeed.
Regardless of whether a baby is fed by breast or bottle, Methodist Women's Hospital supports a parent’s choice, with programs in place to help all new families get off to a healthy start.
Specialized one-on-one care to help new mothers.
Lactation Consultants
Lactation consultants can assist in many ways, including:
- Knowing if your baby is getting enough milk.
- Teaching how to nurse multiples or babies with special needs.
- Training to pump and store milk safely.
- Evaluating breast pain or infections.
After discharge, expect a phone call from our lactation consultants one or two days after you return home. Their office is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily for your phone calls, and, if needed, for one-on-one appointments.
If you would like information, or to speak with a lactation consultant, please call (402) 815-1528. You may also e-mail your questions about breastfeeding to a lactation consultant, and we will reply to you within 48 hours.
