We are here to help you make feeding your baby a fulfilling and positive experience.
Rest assured that a mother's milk has all the nutrition needed to keep a baby healthy, and only very rarely is there a medical or physical reason that a woman cannot breastfeed her baby.
You and your baby can enjoy the many benefits of breastfeeding, including a very close and special mother-baby relationship.

Lactation Consultants
Methodist Hospital's certified lactation consultants are a source of information and encouragement. They provide specialized one-on-one care and instruction to help new mothers breastfeed successfully.
Lactation consultants can assist in many ways, including:
After discharge, expect a phone call from our lactation consultants one or two days after you return home. Their office is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily for your phone calls, and, if needed, for one-on-one appointments.
If you would like information, or to speak with a lactation consultant, please call (402) 815-8791. You may also e-mail your questions about breastfeeding to a lactation consultant, and we will reply to you within 48 hours.

- Knowing if your baby is getting enough milk.
- Teaching how to nurse multiples or babies with special needs.
- Training to pump and store milk safely.
- Evaluating breast pain or infections.

Breastfeeding Boutique
You will find a selection of breastfeeding products and services, including pump sales and rentals, nursing bra fittings and breastfeeding accessories at the Breastfeeding Boutique, located inside the gift shop in the lobby of the Methodist Women's Hospital.
