CT Angiogram (CTA)

Angiography (or arteriography) is an x-ray image of the blood vessels. A CT angiogram uses CT technology rather than standard X-rays or fluoroscopy to obtain images of blood vessels, for example, the coronary arteries of the heart.

Methodist Imaging offers the following CT Angiogram (CTA) procedures:

  • Abdomen
  • Chest (aneurysm, dissection, pulmonary emboli)
  • Coronary (coronary arteries, pulmonary veins)
  • Head
  • Neck
  • Kidneys
  • Blood vessels in the legs

Cardiac Scoring and Coronary Computed Tomography Angiograms

Methodist Imaging offers cardiac scoring and coronary computed tomography angiograms (coronary CTA).

Cardiac scoring measures hard plaque in the arteries of the heart and determines a score. The score will indicate the level of risk for heart disease and be used as a benchmark for future follow-up.

Coronary CTA is a method of visualizing and evaluating the coronary arteries for both soft and hard plaque by the use of X-rays with computerized images. These images are then reassembled by computer into a three-dimensional picture of the area being studied.

This technology has consistently shown the ability to rule out significant narrowing of the major coronary arteries with high accuracy. It can also evaluate if there are blockages in heart by-pass grafts and arteries that have had stents placed in them.

We Are Accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR)

The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of its practice. Image quality and procedure evaluations are conducted by board-certified radiologists and medical physicists who are experts in the field.

The program also evaluates personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.
