Methodist Hospital Interventional Radiology

Methodist Interventional Radiology in Omaha, Nebraska, is a regional referral center specializing in imaging-guided procedures. Using imaging technology Methodist Imaging performs a wide range of procedures to diagnose and treat many common as well as rare disorders.

Often with interventional procedures surgery can be avoided. Interventional radiology can effectively treat some disorders for which there are no surgical alternatives.

Procedures are performed following consultation with one of our interventional radiologists. Most patients are dismissed within 24 hours and often the same day. Full pre-operative, anesthesia, recovery and observation facilities are available.

Advantages of Methodist Interventional Radiology include:

  • Paul Christy, MD; Merlyn Gibson, MD; and Van Marcus, MD; are subspecialty certified in Interventional Radiology by the American Board of Radiology
  • Dedicated staff nurses and technologists who work exclusively in the interventional radiology suites
  • Methodist Hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission

Methodist Hospital Interventional Radiology performs the following procedures:

Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT)

Yttrium-90 Microspheres (Y-90) Treatment for Liver Tumors

SIR-Spheres are used to treat liver cancer in cases where it is not possible to surgically remove tumors. This treatment is administered by an interventional radiologist. This treatment delivers targeted, micro-particles that provide internal radiation therapy directly to the tumor.

This treatment, along with other therapies, may give patients improved quality of life. Talk to your oncologist about Y-90 to see if you are a candidate.
