- Pain or other medications
- Nutrition
- Fluids
- Infections that may not be responding to an oral treatment
- Immune disorders
- Dehydration or vomiting that has become severe

What is infusion therapy?
Most often, infusion therapy involves putting medicine, fluids or nutrition directly into the bloodstream using an intravenous needle. Injecting medicine under the skin or close to the spine is also considered infusion therapy.
Where do I go for infusion therapy?
It is not necessary for you to be admitted to the hospital for treatment. Outpatient infusion therapy is available at the Infusion Center of Methodist Physicians Clinic.
With outpatient infusion therapy, you can continue most of your regular activities and sleep in your own bed. The Infusion Center is conveniently located at Methodist Physicians Clinic Regency, near 102nd and W. Dodge Road. Our staff will work with your insurance company to ensure prior authorization is obtained.

Who will oversee my infusion?
Highly experienced nurses will provide your infusion therapy under the guidance of our physicians. Our professional staff is available 24 hours a day to provide answers to your questions or care for any emergencies.
The infusion center is headed by physicians who specialize in infectious diseases. They will evaluate you to create the most effective outpatient treatment plan. Your health care provider will oversee your progress, working closely with our Infusion Center physicians.

In our outpatient setting, you can sit in large comfortable recliners wearing your street clothes to receive treatment. You can read, watch cable TV, or just relax and have a cup of coffee.
Without having to leave your recliner, you can have lab samples drawn; wounds dressed; and follow-up visits with your infectious disease physician.
