Methodist Hospital Palliative Care

Palliative care can provide care and assistance for anyone who may be facing a life-limiting illness no matter the time frame. Palliative care is geared toward pain and symptom management wherever you may be in your health care journey.

Our palliative care team will work cooperatively with your physician to provide:

  • Time to discuss your health care goals and needs
  • Expert management of pain and other symptoms
  • Help navigating the healthcare system
  • Guidance with difficult and complex treatment choices
  • Emotional and spiritual support for you and your family

Utilizing a team approach to your care, the palliative care team can assist patients who are faced with any serious illness or health condition. Palliative care can be provided at the same time as other treatment for your illness.

Can I request palliative care?
We recommend you discuss palliative care with your physician. He or she will need to request a consult with the palliative care team. We work together with your primary care physician to manage your symptoms and assure your health care goals are achieved.

Is palliative care reimbursed?
Most insurance plans cover the palliative care you receive in the hospital, just like other consultations. This includes both Medicare and Medicaid.
