In the highly specialized world of treating gynecologic cancers, Methodist Health System's Gynecologic Oncology practice, Midwest GYN Oncology, has full-time, board-certified, gynecologic oncologists. They are dedicated exclusively to treating cancers and pre-cancerous conditions of a woman's reproductive system. Their approach is one of highly integrated care, balancing treatment modalities that may include surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
More Clinical Trial Options
The Oncology Research Department coordinates the participation of Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center patients in cooperative group, industry, national and international research studies.
Studies focus on helping determine whether promising treatment approaches should become a new standard of care. Investigations may center on a new drug, new approaches to surgery or radiation or new combinations of treatments to improve patient outcomes. In addition to closely supervising each study, members of the Oncology Research Department work closely with each patient's physician to determine whether that patient meets the study's criteria for participation.
At Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center, 9 percent of eligible patients are trial participants, far exceeding the national average of 2 to 3 percent.

Our Multidisciplinary Approach
If you’re facing a gynecologic cancer, you want medical experts with the greatest skill and experience to focus their knowledge on you and your best chance to beat this.
Each week, we bring medical specialists related to gynecologic cancer care into one room for a treatment planning conference. This multidisciplinary team will review your symptoms and medical history, see your test results, suggest and analyze your options.
Gynecologic Surgery Options
Today, complex conditions can be treated with minimally invasive surgery using a da Vinci robotic surgical system.
This system provides your surgeon with enhanced vision, precision, dexterity and control. It requires only a few small incisions so you can get back to life faster without the usual recovery time needed following traditional open surgery. Our gynecologic oncologists are trained to use the da Vinci Surgical System.
