Behavioral Health/Psycho-Oncology Program

The Cancer Behavioral Health program offers comprehensive support and counseling services to cancer patients and their families who are dealing with the emotional challenges of a cancer diagnosis.

Cancer Behavioral Health team members teach coping skills and strategies to help patients gain the highest quality of life possible, whatever their prognosis.

In addition the Behavioral Health program assists patients who may be dealing with lifestyle changes, including weight loss, smoking cessation and stress management.

The experienced Behavioral Health team at Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center include

  • a psycho-oncologist (a psychiatrist focusing on the oncology patient), psychologist
  • psychotherapists
  • counselors.

The initial outpatient Behavioral Health consultation with our counselors is provided free of charge to patients through the generosity of the Methodist Hospital Foundation and its cancer survivorship program, Harper's Hope.
