Mammography
The American Cancer Society recommends women begin screening mammograms at age 40.
Digital mammography replaces X-ray film with detectors that convert X-rays into electric signals, producing images of the breast on a computer screen. Digital mammography utilizes CAD (computer-aided detection) technology and is more effective than film mammography in screening patients who are under age 50, or patients of any age with dense breast tissue.
Digital mammography is available for both women and men.
All of Methodist Health System's mammography sites are accredited by the
American College of Radiology and approved by the FDA.
