(OMAHA) – Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center (MECC) will host “Embrace The Journey – A Cancer Survivor’s Symposium,” Friday, June 29, from 8:30 a.m. – noon, at the MECC Auditorium.  The program is for all survivors, family members and friends, regardless of where they are in their cancer journey.

The event will explore the issues faced by cancer survivors, caregivers and their families, and strategies that support optimal outcomes.  Topics are designed to help survivors and caregivers deal with the multiple dimensions of cancer diagnosis, treatment and survivorship, including genetics, nutrition and emotional wellness.

“A cancer diagnosis is emotionally devastating,” said Patty Bauer, R.N., service executive, Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center.  “This symposium takes that into account and hopes to provide those affected by cancer with tools to cope with the magnitude of a cancer diagnosis, the subsequent treatment and eventually, survivorship.”

A total of 110 people attended last year’s symposium. The program is free, but advance registration is requested.  To register online, go to www.bestcare.org/embrace, or call (402) 354-5890.
