Methodist Hospital Earns NICHE and Senior Friendly Status

Gerontological Nursing and Elder PatientFor the fourth year running, Methodist Hospital has earned the NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Health System Elders) designation from The John A. Hartford Foundation Institute for Geriatric Nursing at New York University College of Nursing.

NICHE is the premier designation indicating a hospital's commitment to excellence in the care of patients 65-years-and-older.

Methodist Hospital has also achieved Senior Friendly status for its NICHE program. The Senior Friendly status is given to NICHE hospitals that have implemented systemic aging-sensitive policies and included the input of patient, families and other community providers in planning and implementing NICHE initiatives.

Methodist Hospital first earned the designation in 2006, the first hospital in Nebraska to receive the designation.
