Our Community & Financial Impact
All of Methodist Health System’s affiliate hospitals participate in helping impact our community targeting those who are in need and the broader community health needs.
In Fiscal Year 2018, Nebraska Methodist Health System demonstrated its commitment to improving the health of the community through programs, actions and donations designed to accomplish one or more of these goals:
- Improve access to health care services
- Enhance the health of the community
- Advance medical or health care knowledge
- Relieve or reduce the burden of government or other community efforts.

Cash and In-Kind Donations
Includes funds and in-kind services donated to community organizations or to the community at large for a community benefit purpose. Learn more
Community Benefits Operation
Includes cost associated with assigned staff and community health needs and/or assets assessment, as well as other cost associated with community benefit strategy and operations. Our Community Benefits Staff also oversees our Speakers Bureau. Learn more
Community Building Activities
These activities improve the community’s health and safety by addressing the root causes of health problems, such as poverty, homelessness, and environmental hazards. Learn more
Financial Assistance
Financial Assistance is free or discounted health services provided to person who cannot afford to pay and who meet the eligibility criteria of our financial assistance policy. Learn more
Health Professionals Education
This includes educational programs for physicians, interns and residents, medical students, nurses and nursing students, pastoral care trainees and other health professionals when that education is necessary for a degree, certificate, or training that is required by state law, accrediting body or health profession society. Research
Research that is clinical and community health, as well as studies on health care delivery that are generalizable, shared with the public and funded by the government or tax-exempt entity. Learn more
Subsidized Health Services
Clinical programs and services provided despite a financial loss and includes among others: Emergency room services, behavioral health services and the Methodist Community Health Clinic. Learn more
Unreimbursed Medicaid and Other Public Programs
This represents the shortfall between the actual cost (not charges) of providing care and payments received from the government. Learn more
