Postpartum Care & Recovery
After labor and delivery, your focus immediately shifts to caring for your new baby. But tending to your own physical and emotional wellbeing is just as important.
Our maternity services at Methodist Fremont Health are designed to ensure you are well taken of throughout your postpartum experience. All of our private birthing suites are Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum (LDRP), which means you’ll be in the same room throughout your stay. That allows your doctor and nurses to better care for you in the moments following birth. And, without the worry or discomfort of moving rooms, you’ll be able to focus fully on recovery and this special family time. Take a virtual tour now.
Caring for Yourself After Delivery
Many changes occur in a woman's body both during pregnancy and again after childbirth. Knowing what to expect can help you prepare for those moments and months following delivery.
Our in-person and online childbirth classes, offered free for moms-to-be who deliver at Methodist Fremont Health, are a great start. During your stay, our caring nurses will also provide personalized guidance to help you manage any postpartum concerns, from breast and vaginal soreness, hemorrhoids and urination problems, to the sometimes confusing emotions that many new moms experience.
As you leave the hospital, we’ll provide a complete list of instructions and care tips based on your doctor's instructions, and check in with you after a few days to see how you’re doing. And of course, we’re always just a phone call away if you have any questions or concerns.
Breastfeeding is a learned skill that requires patience and practice, but one that can provide a wealth of benefits for both mom and baby. If you choose to breastfeed, we’re here to help you find success. Our lactation nurses will visit you throughout your stay to answer any questions, and are always available for ongoing support after you’re home.
