Wound Care at Methodist Hospital
Our goal is to help your skin heal after surgery.
Our nurse practitioners will work in collaboration with your primary care physician throughout your wound care treatment.
The certified wound/ostomy/continence nurses provide pre- and post-operative education and counseling for patients who must live with a colostomy, ileostomy, or a urostomy. Services include stoma site selection and care, assistance with dietary, sexual and lifestyle changes and post-discharge care and counseling.
Our teams create comprehensive and individualized care plans to treat and control pain for acute and traumatic wounds, skin breakdown, skin tears and ostomies.
Our team also provides treatment to other wounds such as:
- Arterial and venous leg ulcers
- Diabetic and neuropathic foot ulcers
- Vascular wounds
- Pressure sores and ulcers
- Surgical incisions and slow or non-healing surgical wounds
- Traumatic injuries
- Incontinence-associated dermatitis
- Skin tears or lacerations
- Bariatric wounds
