Dr. Dobleman Joins Family Medicine Team at Methodist Physicians Clinic Prairie Fields

Published: Sept. 8, 2020

John Dobleman, MD, brings high energy and a spirit of collaboration to every meeting he has with patients.

“I want the patient to know that we’re on a team,” said Dr. Dobleman, who specializes in family medicine at Methodist Physicians Clinic Prairie Fields. “I really want to know about their life. I want to know what drives them, what motivates them. I am truly excited to find out what a patient’s goals are and how I can help them achieve those goals. I enjoy teaching my patients when I can, and I appreciate it when they have something to teach me.”

Dr. Dobleman was exposed to medicine at a young age by his father, a doctor, and mother, a nurse. But it wasn’t until late in college when he shadowed his sister during her emergency medicine residency that he knew it was the career for him.

He finished his history major and biology minor at Marquette University in Milwaukee, then studied medicine at Creighton University’s School of Medicine. He completed the Clarkson Family Medicine Residency program through Nebraska Medicine.

Dr. Dobleman is passionate about secondary prevention – helping patients prevent further complications from conditions like diabetes, hypertension, heart failure and gastrointestinal diseases. This, he said, is key to helping them achieve their lifestyle goals.

The Meaning of Care to me is the patient telling me what they want out of life, and me trying to adjust my recommendations based on what they feel is most important to them,” he said. “Not me telling them what’s most important.”

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with loved ones, golfing, grilling out and traveling.

“Family means the world to me,” said Dr. Dobleman, who is one of six children and enjoys being an uncle to several nieces and nephews.
