Lung cancer screening and low-dose CT scans

If you have risk factors for lung cancer, such as a history of smoking, talk with your doctor about whether you should consider having a lung cancer screening. The Methodist Lung/Thoracic Oncology Clinic offers lung cancer screenings, including low-dose CT scans.  Low-dose CT scan (LDCT) are used to detect lung cancer at its earliest stages, when it’s most treatable.

Lung cancer is often difficult to cure, especially if it has already spread outside of the lungs. Study results have shown that detecting lung cancer in the earliest stages through screenings has dramatically improved the survival rates.

If you have risk factors for lung cancer, such as a history of smoking, talk with your doctor about whether you should consider using this test. Learn more about low-dose CT scans and lung cancer screening.
