Neonatal ICU at Methodist Women's Hospital

If your baby requires neonatal intensive care, a highly specialized team is here to care for your precious baby.

Should your baby need additional care, we offer a high-level 36-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) staffed by a highly specialized neonatal team. The NICU is designated a Level III unit - the highest level of care in west Omaha.

The NICU environment

The NICU is designed specially for the care, growth and development of premature babies and babies needing intensive care. This special environment offers lighting and sound levels for optimal newborn development. Depending on the level of care your baby needs, our NICU also offers private rooms so you and your family can comfortably stay with your new baby. Learn about the design of the NICU rooms.

HeRO monitoring system

Methodist Women's Hospital is the only hospital with the state-of-the-art HeRO Monitoring System in all the NICU rooms. This innovative tool tracks the beat-to-beat variability of baby’s heart, giving advanced warning of infection, illness or other distress—before any symptoms appear. Studies show that HeRO can reduce infant mortality by more than 20 percent. Research shows one life was saved for every 48 monitored.

The NICU staff

The physicians and staff at the Methodist Women's Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) have special training and expertise to do everything possible to provide the very best care for your baby, you and your family. NICU rooms

Our NICU includes 24 private rooms, with four larger rooms for twins, triplets or quadruplets. We also staff a nursery for NICU babies who are require less intensive care and are transitioning to home.

NICU expansion

In December of 2015, expansion began at Methodist Women’s Hospital to become the region's largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, providing lifesaving care to more of the smallest and most vulnerable babies than any other. This 18-month project will grow the NICU from 28 private beds to 51. This will add 13 single rooms and five rooms for twins or triplets.
